Bemba (ChiBemba)
The Bemba language, ChiBemba, is a major Bantu language spoken primarily in north-eastern Zambia by the Bemba people and as a lingua franca by about 18 related ethnic groups, It is also spoken in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Tanzania, and Botswana. Including all its dialects, Bemba is the most spoken indigenous language in Zambia.
Translation of Grace Notes courses into Bemba began in 2014, and the work has started up again in the fall of 2018. There are several communities where Grace Notes training centers conduct some of their classes in Bemba, including Kabwe, Ndola, and Chibombo. Although primary and secondary education in Zambia is in English, it is very useful for pastors and Bible teachers to have some of the studies available in the common language of the people.
